Maintaining Pipes for the Long Term

A Southern California senior living community was suffering from signs of pipe failure. Regular sewage backups, slow drains and blockages were becoming a nuisance to the residents and staff members that care for them. The Director of Facilities began looking for a solution to manage these ongoing issues without disrupting the comfort and care that the residents required. They started working with a pipe lining company but were quickly disappointed with the execution. The company did not understand the unique circumstances of working with the elderly residents and were messy and disruptive. That’s when he reached out to a colleague that recommended Specialized Pipe Technologies.

After a thorough inspection, the SPT technicians confirmed that the pipes in the building were actually in good working condition. The clogs were coming from the wear and tear of a busy building with wipes and other non-flushable items often clogging the system. SPT recommended a regular cleaning and maintenance plan to keep the pipes working like new. The inspection and cleaning plan helps to manage the stress on the pipes and allows them to stay ahead of any potential problems before they affect the residents.

Throughout the maintenance process the SPT team took extra precautions to meet the health and safety standards of the community.  The team wore personal protective equipment, performed daily temperature checks and took other Covid-19 precautions, including installing plastic barriers to keep the workstation clean and sanitary. They worked with the staff to plan and communicate their schedule to ensure that they did not disrupt the elderly residents.

The Specialized Pipe Technologies team built a relationship with the customer. The staff knows they can trust our team to care for their pipes, so they can focus on providing care for their residents. The facility director was so happy with the service they provided, SPT is now working with five more communities within their network. Some of the locations required spot repairs in specific problem areas, but most of them are on an inspection and cleaning schedule to maintain the pipes for the long term.
